The Woman’s Club of Lakeside
The oldest service club in Lakeside
1910-2026
Eight women formed the Woman’s Club of Lakeside in 1910. Josephine was one of the eight charter members and her daughter, Mary Ross, was elected the first president. At their next meeting each member brought a guest who would also join the club.
Their mission was mutual helpfulness and sociability, the cultivation of interest in intellectual and civic pursuit for Lakeside. The red geranium was to be the club flower; red and green were chosen for the club colors, dues would be 25 cents a year and membership was by invitation
The Woman’s Club of Lakeside was organized in March 1910, Federated in: County 1918, State 1920 and Southern District 1958. We are proud of our community service since 1910. Mutual Helpfulness, Sociability and Cultivation of Intellectual and Civic pursuit.
The Womans Club of Lakeside are members of the General and California Federation of Women’s Clubs.
Why are we a member of GFWC and CFWC?
The General Federation of Woman’s Club and the California Federation of Woman’s Club are united in their dedication to volunteer community service. They provide opportunities for all clubs to share and learn leadership and growth with other districts at seminars and conventions with a common goal of supporting the lives of others through philanthropic service. Meetings
We meet on the 4th Thursday of the month at the VFW in Lakeside. Meetings start at 11:00 a.m.
